On September 24-26, the inaugural MicroLED-Connect event took place in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. It was an extremely successful event, with attendees, speakers and exhibitors from all over the world there to discuss the latest microLED innovations and updates. It is clear that there's much interest and driving force behind the microLED industry.
MicroLED-Connect hosted over 40 speakers and 8 masterclasses, providing a wealth of information by leading display makers and supply chain companies, researchers, material makers, market analysts, investors, application developers, and more. The agenda included speakers from Google, Meta, TCL CSoT, KAUST, JCDecaux, CEA/Leti, GlobalFoundries, Aixtron, Continental, Applied Materials, imec.Xpand, VueReal, ALLOS and many more.
You can now access all of the event recordings and proceedings, in addition to recordings and presentations from past microLED-Connect virtual events. MicroLED-Connect offers yearly passes to access all of the content, in addition to online access to events during the year.
In this article, we include 3 talks, from KAUST, Polar Light and imec.Xpand. We welcome you to view the full recordings below, and you can also request access to the original presentation files here.
KAUST's red InGaN microLEDs
Prof. Daisuke Lida gave an excellent overview of KAUST' latest research on InGan-based red microLEDs, and the challenges ahead. He detailed the technologies used to grow red LEDs, the fabrication and processing of microLEDs, the Universities lattice-matching substrate technology, and finally a path towards monolithic RGB microLED displays, a joint-research with Meijo University.
Polar Light - pyramidal microLEDs
Polar Light Technologies was spun-off from Sweden's Linköping University to commercialize a monolithic approach to produce pyramidal microLEDs using a MOCVD-based a bottom-up growth process. The company's CTO gave an excellent talk detailing the company's technology, achievements and next goals and roadmap.
imec.Xpand- investing in deeptech startups
imec.Xpand, based in Belgium, is a global VC that focuses on transformative semiconductor and nanotechnology innovations, looking for synergy with the imec institute. Cryil Vancura, a partner in the VC, gave a great overview of the VC, discussed opportunities and challenges in the semiconductor industry - and gave excellent advice for microLED startups that are seeking VC funds.
